Something is being made here.
Working from life has loosened something. It's how I translate the world and the beauty I find in it to paper.
practice
Drawing is a slow practice. I came back to it after a long time away, and it's made my hand more expressive than it ever was.
As an architect by training and an interior designer in practice, I spent decades making every line exact and specific. I've always tried to capture something emotive in design — but that requires many hands and many minds. Drawing is, selfishly, a singular practice.
Working from life — charcoal in hand, in front of a live model — has loosened something. It's how I translate the world and the beauty I find in it to paper.
Soft evidence. The kind only a hand can leave.
